Ever the explorer and fascinated by the world around me, after finishing my undergrad in History at Birkbeck, I went on to do my Masters in World History and Cultures at King’s College London. Through my work and education, I have always sought to highlight overlooked stories, be that through curating an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum on Seafarers of the Indian Ocean, writing a chapter on ‘forgotten’ artefacts from the V&A or writing research documents on marginalised communities, geopolitics, and feminism at the House of Lords.
I am fiercely passionate about widening access to and partition in the arts and creating safe spaces where everyone can experience art that leaves you breathless and in awe, that feels urgent and joyful. The STEP programme offers the opportunity to do that as well as continue my work with communities in East London and to add to the wealth of culture and talent in this pocket of London.
My placement at East London Dance is an incredibly exciting chance to tell stories through dance and bring joy through movement!
