Mae-Li came through the Creative Opportunity Programme where she was given training and development on routes into the arts sector. She has actively taken part in arts projects using her film and digital skills to contribute to youth participation work at the Almeida Theatre and Roundhouse Radio. She went to school in Hackney and has always been ambitious to follow a career in the arts in London. She’s been placed in a busy internship with NTS Radio.
Mae-Li applied to STEP at the end of a long period of applying for many opportunities without success and regretfully coming to the conclusion that you can’t turn working in a creative industry into an actual living. STEP has helped her recognise that she has just as much right to succeed in the industry as others with more connections.
