I am a practicing artist and researcher interested in exploring psychogeography and spacial practice, gentrification, site-specificity, decolonising and gender. Previously to STEP I was working as a research intern at Sotheby’s S|2 Gallery, and before that I was the Welfare & Rights Officer at a Students’ Union while doing a few self-initiated arts projects on the side. I have always sought ways to merge art and politics and I’m really grateful that STEP is giving me the opportunity to work at art institutions that put on such thought-provoking and culturally relevant exhibition programmes.
At the moment I’m doing my first placement at the V&A, in which I’m helping work on the V&A East – a project that will see the V&A open two new interconnected sites in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It’s really exciting to be able to work on a project that is ongoing and not yet come to fruition, as it gives me direct insight into both the operational and curatorial aspects of creating a gallery from scratch. After this I’ll be heading to Bow Arts, where I’m excited to gain experience working for a local community-focused organisation.
